For more than 250 years, the candle arch has been part of the Christmas festival of light in the Ore Mountains. The Johanngeorgenstädt mountain blacksmith Johann Teller is said to have made the first wrought iron candlestick in this type around 1726. While the name refers to an architectural origin, the arch shape goes back to a mining tradition. So the miners have hung their burning pit lamps on the wall like the mouth hole of the stud for the last shift before Christmas. In addition to the patented interior lighting, the arched cloud motif is a special design feature of our workshop and can be found in many of our candle arches.
